Marian University is accepting applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the area of Special Education to begin fall 2022. Successful candidates will have a strong commitment to undergraduate education, student engagement and research, as well as service to the college and community.

Successful candidates will have a working knowledge of research and best practices in special education, special education law, providing support in content areas, social-emotional learning, instructional design, family engagement strategies, and co-teaching essential; will be team-oriented, committed to academic excellence, and foster diversity/equity/inclusive practices. Must be available to teach in-person classes on the Fond du Lac campus. Normal credit load is 12 credits per semester (fall & spring semesters).

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate and graduate courses in special education and general education for the following programs: early childhood, special education, elementary/middle education, and secondary education. May include pre-clinical and/or clinical supervision.
  • Work with other faculty to evaluate, revise, and develop curriculum to help ensure student mastery of course content.
  • Support the department mission, which centers on student learning through quality instruction, curriculum enhancement, and faculty service.
  • Create an effective learning environment through the use of a variety of instructional methods
  • Strictly honor the privacy, security and confidentiality of student records and other sensitive information according to state, federal, and college regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Provide service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible and professional engagement.
  • Participate in faculty and committee work as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Ph.D. in Education (or ability to complete dissertation by August 2022)
  • Must hold current K-12 special education licensure
  • Must have a minimum of three years’ experience as a special education teacher within a K-12 setting
  • Willingness to support the Mission and Core Values of Marian University
