Scott Welak M.D., a 2002 Biology and Chemistry graduate, says that being a neonatologist is a calling; he is passionate about the level of care he provides to his patients and their families. Dr. Welak currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee, Wis., caring for critically ill and premature infants from all of Wisconsin, and also serves as the Co-Associate Director for the Perinatal/Neonatal Fellowship Program. Originally of Lomira, Scott commuted to Marian, but remained involved on campus through both science-related clubs and his participation in Sabre Show, where he played electric and stand-up bass. Welak credits many of his foundational skills to Marian professors and the overall quality of his Marian experience. “I wanted to attend Marian because of the Biology Program, and because of the intimate class size. I wanted to be able to get to know students and professors, and just this aspect alone has really helped me get to where I am today.”
