Ryan Breuer, from Slinger Wisconsin, is a 2008 graduate from Marian University. He completed his Bachelor of Science degree with a major in biology. Ryan’s work ethic and leadership activities, while at Marian, were clearly demonstrated by his dedication to research and highly praised involvement on campus, earning him the coveted Student of the Year Award in 2008. Ryan was the first of his family to attend college, specifically Marian, where his sister Amanda later enrolled; she is now a practicing Physician Assistant.

Ryan received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2012 from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, School of Veterinary Medicine with a special focus on food animal and bovine medicine. Ryan then went on to private practice were he practiced food animal medicine (primarily bovine) for two and a half years in Wisconsin. He then joined Iowa State University Extension and Outreach as a Dairy Field Specialist in early 2015, where he consulted with numerous dairy producers in the region, participated in field research related to transition dairy cow practices, and lead educational programing in the areas of calf care, dairy reproduction, and dairy beef management operations.

Ryan is currently the Food Animal Internal Medicine Resident at Iowa State University – College of Veterinary Medicine.  In this rigorous residency program, he is furthering his veterinary knowledge and skill set with a goal to become board certified in large animal internal medicine from the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM).
