Marian University invites applicants for the position of Adjunct Instructor starting fall 2022. Successful candidates will have a strong commitment to undergraduate education and student engagement, as well as service to the college and community. Marian University is an institution that values innovative teaching, advising and mentoring. All faculty participate in mentoring, with other related duties as assigned.

Teaching responsibilities may include teaching traditional “in person” classes or contributing to our graduate, adult accelerated and online programs, as demand requires.

Department Opening: Social and Behavioral Sciences

Responsibilities: 

  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate criminal justice courses in online, hybrid and on-campus modes. Examples include Introduction to Criminal Justice, Criminal Law, Juvenile Law, Corrections, Constitutional Law, Principles of Judicial Practice, Rules of Evidence, Criminal Procedure, Crimes against Children, Introduction to Homeland Security, Combating Terrorism, and Disaster Management. 
  • Other reasonable duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:  Masters or Ph.D. in Chemistry or closely related field with a minimum of 18 credits in biology and two (2) years of experience teaching at either the secondary or post-secondary level. 

Preferred Requirements:

  • Terminal degree in Criminology, Criminal Justice or a related field. Juris Doctor is acceptable.
  • Professional work experience in the field is a plus
  • Experience in forensic science, crime scene investigation, psychology, social work, sociology and/or homeland security is a plus, but not required.  
  • Experience in online learning / teaching
