Marian University invites applicants for Assistant, Associate and Full Professor faculty positions in Business with an Information Technology focus starting August 19, 2019. Successful candidates will have a strong commitment to undergraduate education, student engagement and research, as well a service to the college and community. Marian University is an institution that values innovative teaching, advising and mentoring (advising and mentoring is expected of all faculty). Other related duties as assigned.

We are seeking an individual who will assist in its development and direction, and work closely with local businesses to create experiential learning opportunities. Teaching responsibilities include four courses each semester as well as contributing to our graduate program, as demand requires. Candidates should exhibit skill and enthusiasm in teaching undergraduates and developing innovative experiential learning opportunities in the surrounding community and be willing to participate in all phases of department, divisional and college activities.


Teach undergraduate and graduate descriptive, predictive and prescriptive data analysis, management decision making and analysis, and/or other management courses in both face-to-face and online platforms with appropriate research productivity.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Ensures optimal preparedness of students as candidates for quantitative analytical positions in related industries, with engagement in all facets of student development.
  • Actively engages in developing and maintaining industry relationship to enhance internship and placement opportunities for our students.
  • Provides academic support for professionally oriented academic training and curriculum development.
  • Oversees management of program marketing and student recruiting activities, student professional career development.
  • Assist post-graduate relationship, networks, and establishment of external industry relations to promote programs to industry employers, secure ongoing placement channels and initiate industry collaborations for joint research projects.

Minimum Qualifications:

Ideal applicants will hold a terminal degree in business with an information technology focus or a related field. Candidates must be able to demonstrate the potential to publish in high quality peer – reviewed academic journals. We will consider candidates who are pursuing a PhD or are ABD in Business Administration or Information Technology. The successful candidate will develop courses and teach in statistics and data analytics. In addition, the candidate should be able to teach one or more of the standard IT courses (e.g., project management, management informational systems, programming, database, networks, security, systems analysis and design). An interest in teaching at the Master’s level is necessary.

ABD candidates with a firm completion date will be considered for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. Previous teaching experience in the discipline is required. If your degree, or its concentration/focus, is not specifically in Business Administration data analysis or management decision analysis, you should be able to demonstrate that publications and other intellectual contributions will make you “academically qualified” in the discipline.
