The College of the Professions offers courses and programs that develop core disciplinary knowledge and technical competence, and focus on mastering critical and creative thinking skills, scientific methodology, quantitative reasoning, effective communication, and research skills. The College of the Professions offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in the following academic areas: business, diagnostic medical sonography, education, exercise and sport science, nursing, radiological technology, and thanatology.

Reporting to the Provost, the Dean of the College the Professions provides leadership and direction for the college’s programs and departments.  Through team-orientated and collaborative leadership, the dean defines, articulates and successfully implements an innovative and distinct vision for the college.

The incoming dean will have a strong record of accomplishments and a vision for the future of higher education. The successful candidate will have experience as an academic leader with a demonstrated track record of supporting a student-focused learning environment and innovation to improve student success.  Experience with recruitment and retention of faculty, and promoting faculty and scholarly excellence will be important as well.

The dean will possess the ability to lead the development and articulation of a clear vision and engender support from internal and external constituents in implementing that vision. The dean will demonstrate the skills to build strong alliances and partnerships across the university and throughout the community. Experience with or strong potential for garnering external resources, generating new revenue for the college, and developing innovative academic programming is highly desirable, as is experience with external accreditation processes.   A terminal degree in a discipline represented by the college’s academic programs or equivalent experience is required, as is a willingness to embrace the Mission and Core Values of the University.
