Business Office Assistant

The position of Business Office Assistant promotes and supports the learning experience of Marian University students by assisting with business accounting functions. The essential functions of the position include assisting with payments received by recording cash, checks and credit card transactions. Assisting with student accounts, i.e. balances, financial aid, payment arrangements, meal plans, etc. Maintaining records of payments and entering transactions into the student Power Campus account. Providing customer service to visitors of the Business Office and answering the Business Office phone line. Assisting with filing, scanning and storing of files. Recording of transactions received (payment reconciliation) and participating in the Student Orientation and Registration (SOAR) events. Additional duties may be required by this position’s supervisor.
The qualified candidate will have an Associate’s degree in accounting, finance or a relevant field. One year of experience in accounting or a related field. A combination of education and experience may be considered. Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills. Must maintain a high level of confidentiality both in and out of the workplace. Computer literate. Must be able to work occasional evening and weekends (SOAR events). Willingness to support the Mission and Core Values of the University.
