Marian to host Chamber Singers concert, April 27

FOND DU LAC, Wis. - Marian University's Music Department will be hosting the Chamber Singers spring choral concert on Sunday, April 27 at 2 p.m. in Dorcas Chapel. Under the direction of David Hein, assistant professor of music, and assisted by accompanist, Paul Thelen, and percussionist, Scott Elford, the program of choral music will span nearly 1,500 years of music history.

Selections performed will include an early American Shaker tune, "Gentle Words;" Daniel Burton's setting of the St. Theresa of Ávila text, "Let Nothing Disturb Thee;" Aaron Copeland's exciting "Zion's Walls;" and a setting of Christian mystic, Jonn Donne's Holy Sonnet VII, "At the Round Earth's Imagined Corners," by composer Williametta Spencer.

The concert will conclude with Paul Halley's "Freedom Trilogy," which folds a variety of world music traditions together - including elements drawn from Gregorian chant, South African freedom songs and Appalachian early American hymnody.

The concert is free and open to the public. For more information about the concert, contact David Hein at or at 920-923-8595.
