Marian University to host Jazz Studies concert

FOND DU LAC, Wis. - Marian University will host a Jazz Studies concert on Friday, April 26 at 7:30 p.m., in the Hornung Student Center as a part of Arts Week.

The concert, which is free and open to the public, will feature the Marian Steel Drum band, the Vocal Jazz Group and the Little Big Band. These three groups will be joined by Lighthouse Big Band.

The Marian Steel Drum band, directed by Scott Elford, will feature selections including: "Hot, Hot, Hot" by Buster Poindexter; "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da" by the Beatles; and "Natural Mystic" by Bob Marley. The Vocal Jazz Group, directed by David Hein, will feature selections including: "Chili con Carne," "The Lady is a Tramp" and "Oblivion" by Astor Piazzolla. The Little Big Band, directed by Brian Lydeen, will feature selections including: "A Few Good Men" by Gordon Godwin; "Darn that Dream"; and "Shiny Stockings" by Count Basie. The Lighthouse Big Band, also directed by Brian Lydeen, will feature the music of Benny Carter, Gordon Goodwin and Sammy Nestico.
