Spring Choir Offerings by Marian University

FOND DU LAC, Wis. — The Marian University Women’s Chorale and Chamber Singers will present their spring concert on Sunday, April 22, at 2:00 p.m. at the Windhover Center.

The Women’s Chorale’s selections will include Ave Maria by Arcadeldt, a newly-discovered Pie Jesu by the Polish composer Winc Zaluta, vocal jazz favorites Route 66 and Summertime, and Pete Seeger’s classic Turn, Turn, Turn. The Women’s Chorale is directed by David Thompson. Membership is open to any sopranos or altos at Marian University or the UW-Fond du Lac.

The Marian Chamber Singers is a mixed chorus, open by audition and directed by David Hein. Their selections will include Astor Piazolla’s Argentinian tango Oblivion,My Spirit Sang All Day by Gerald Finzi and The Lord is My Light, by John Rutter, with student clarinetist Ryan Nowak. The public is invited to attend and there is no admission charge.


Fun Fact

Dorcas Chapel was built in 1966 and named for the seamstress Dorcas who shared her talents with Saint Paul. The chapel was designed to look like a sewing basket with the cross on top portraying a needle (Source: Marian University Archives).
