FOND DU LAC, Wis. -The Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) team from Marian University received the First Runner-Up Award at the Midwest Regional Competition on April 8 in Chicago.
The SIFE team, in its first full year of existence at Marian, competed with more than 50 other schools from the Midwest. Last year the team won Rookie of the Year recognition with only six months of active participation.
The team included 3 graduating seniors, who were also members of the executive board: Laura Whyms of Oakfield, Josh Ingram of Montello and Brian Peirick of Watertown. Also on the team were: Parker Helleberg of Fond du Lac, Joe Howard of Sheboygan Falls, Justin De Maa of Waupun, Ken Pieper of Gurnee, IL, Matt Lyon of Palm Harbor, FL, Eric Kelling of Reedsville and Emily Roeske of Oshkosh. Faculty advisors who participated were: Scott Dell, CPA; Jim Gray, JD; and Scott Richter, MBA.
SIFE is an international organization, with over 30,000 student members, in over 45 countries, on more than 1,500 college campuses. Its goal is to give back to the community in a tangible way, where students have a chance to apply knowledge gained in the classroom while making a difference in the local and global communities.
