What Are You Inspired to Do?



Joining forces with Carthage University, 9 eligible Marian Nursing students will travel to Nicaragua to experience life on the island of Ometepe in Lake Nicaragua. This 2-week program mixes medical clinical days with cultural immersion excursions in Managua, Granada and Ometepe. Students combine classes, volcanic crater hikes, canoe trips, and beaches, with medical work in rural clinics. Approximately 1,500 patients will be seen over the course of 10 days.


  • Students will earn 1 Nursing credit


  • Summer 2014: Last week of May - first week of June (exact dates TBD)

  • Pre-arrival orientation at Carthage College

  • Endowed Medical Mission Scholarship exclusively for Spanish major/minors
