In 2013, the Hawaii Post-secondary Education Authorization Program (HPEAP) was created and it provides regulatory oversight of certain post-secondary educational institutions that have a physical presence in the state. Note: HPEAP is receiving many inquiries from accredited distance/online schools that don't have physical presence in Hawaii which are exempt from the law.
