Art Programs

Female Art Student

Why choose a major in an art program?

Students interested in the study of art can apply their craft in numerous ways in today’s marketplace. The various art programs emphasize the contributions of artists and art forms in the visual world while promoting the development of one’s personal artistic and aesthetic philosophy. Whether designing for media, creating sculpture, rehabilitating the elderly, or working with students, Marian University Art majors are highly skilled and valued in their field.

Why Marian?

Our Art program student-to-teacher ratio of 8:1 ensures art students receive personally guided advising towards pursuing their academic goals directed by our caring and distinguished faculty. Art majors also maintain, at minimum, a 3.25 cumulative GPA, which reflects on their ability. Graduate schools and employers look for students who have practical internships like Marian students experience through student-teaching, working with patient rehabilitation, gallery management, or the like. All Art students design a portfolio that showcases ability and demonstrates their versatility and value for the industry, and, depending on your Art major, will have a public exhibition of your work, complete a human issues project and/or complete an internship. As a Marian student, you will not only be well versed in your content area, but you will also benefit from the University’s commitment to the applied liberal arts and focus on community service and social justice, as well as our campus culture of academic and personal support.
