Marian University appoints new President

The Marian University Board of Trustees announced today that it has appointed Steven R. DiSalvo, Ph.D., as the new president of the university, effective July 1, 2010. DiSalvo will succeed Sr. Mary Mollison, C.S.A., who has been serving as interim president since March 2009.
“I am both honored and humbled by the opportunity to serve as the 14th president of Marian University,” said DiSalvo. “Marian is an outstanding Catholic university rooted in the values of its sponsor, the Congregation of the Sisters of Saint Agnes. The Marian name is poised to become synonymous with high quality, affordable education throughout the Midwest and beyond. I am looking forward to working with the entire Marian community to lead the university in meeting the needs of students for generations to come.”
“We are delighted to welcome Steve DiSalvo to the Marian University and Fond du Lac communities,” said John Korb, chair of the Marian University Board of Trustees and chair of the presidential search committee. “From the first time we met him, members of the search committee were impressed with his leadership abilities, his values and his commitment to moving Marian University forward on its journey of excellence. He brings with him a variety of successful experiences at other universities, including Fordham, Loyola Chicago and Fairfield; as a manager with IBM; as a senior officer of several not-for-profit organizations including Junior Achievement and the Joe Torre Safe At Home Foundation; and most recently as President and Founder of The Hopewell Group. This variety of experiences will serve him well at a time of ever-increasing change in American higher education.”
DiSalvo has a Ph.D. in educational leadership, a M.B.A. in marketing and a B.S. in psychology, all from Fordham University. He serves as the Board Chair for Fordham’s Center for American Catholic Studies.
DiSalvo and his wife, Eileen, have three sons: Tom, Andrew and Connor. The DiSalvos will be making their home in Fond du Lac.
