Navis and Westerveld honored by the NAC

(Waukesha, WI) - The Northern Athletics Conference has announced the awards for the 2009 women's volleyball season. The awards, voted on by the conference's head coaches, include a 12-member First Team All-NAC, a six-member Second Team All-NAC, honorable mention selections, a six-member All-Freshmen Team, a 13-member All-Sportsmanship Team and the four major awards of Player, Defensive Player, Freshman and Coach of the Year.

Marian's Michielah Navis (Waupun, WI) and Kelsey Westerveld (Holmen, WI) were honored for their efforts this season. Navis was one of six freshmen to be named to the All-Freshmen Team, while Westerveld was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team.

Navis, a setter, led the team with 614 assists, which placed her sixth in the conference. She also led the team with 29 service aces. She was second on the team in total blocks (49) and digs (341).

Westerveld, a senior, led the team in kills (253) and digs (350) this past season.

Volleyball (October 31, 2009)
Sabres finish season at UW-River Falls
(River Falls, WI) -
Marian University finished the season in the UW-River Falls Tournament this past weekend and went 0-4. Marian finished the season 5-26.

Alexis Becker (North Fond du Lac, WI) led the team in kills on the weekend with 26, while Andrea Milis (Darboy, WI) and Kelsey Westerveld (Holmen, WI) each added 11. Becker also added 31 digs, while Westerveld led the team with 41 digs.

Michielah Navis (Waupun, WI) led the team with 59 assists, while also adding 38 digs. Krystell Lucero (Two Rivers, WI) also added 31 digs.

 

Volleyball (October 27, 2009)
Sabres drop home finale

Concordia University-Wisconsin defeated Marian University 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-20) on Tuesday evening in Marian's final home game of the season. Stephanie Boehm and Katie Roessler combined for 39 kills to lead the Falcons, which had a .375 attack percentage on the evening. More

 

Volleyball (October 24, 2009)
Marian falls at home
(Fond du Lac, WI) -
Aurora University defeated Marian University 3-0 (25-12, 25-17, 25-20). The Sabres hit just .036 on the day, while Aurora hit .289. Aurora moved to 15-14 on the year and 8-3 in the Northern Athletics Conference, while Marian fell to 5-21 on the year and 3-8 in the NAC.

Kelsey Westerveld (Holmen, WI) led the Sabres in kills (4) and digs (10), while Michielah Navis (Waupun, WI) recorded 10 assists.

Marian is back in action again on Tuesday, as they will host Concordia-Wisconsin at 7:00 PM.

 

Volleyball (October 23, 2009)
Benedictine sweeps Marian
(Fond du Lac, WI) -
Benedictine University defeated Marian University in three games on Friday evening at Sadoff Gymnasium. Benedictine won game one 25-6, game two 25-17, and game three 25-22. The Eagles are now 14-12 overall and an impressive 10-1 in the Northern Athletics Conference. Marian fell to 5-20 overall and 3-7 in the NAC.

The Eagles hit .364 on the evening, while Marian hit .259. The Eagles didn't commit a single error on offense in the first set. More
