Marian University to host fall Jazz Studies concert


FOND DU LAC, Wis. - Marian University will be hosting a Jazz Studies concert on Saturday, November 23, at 7:30 p.m. in the Hornung Student Center.

The Little Big Band, directed by Dr. Brian Lydeen, is a combined ensemble with students from Marian University and UW-Fond du Lac. The group will be playing the music of Sonny Rollins, Kenny Dorham, Fred Rogers, Henry Mancini, The Meters and Chick Corea. UW-Fond du Lac saxophonist Alex Skinner will be a featured soloist throughout the program.

The Vocal Jazz Ensemble, directed by Prof. David Hein, will be performing several a cappella selections that include an arrangement of The Spinners 70's pop/R&B tune "Mighty Love," the traditional folk song "Scarborough Fair" and jazz standards "How Deep is the Ocean?" and "Long Ago (And Far Away)".
