Marian University Model United Nations team competes in The Galapagos Islands, Ecuador

FOND DU LAC, Wis- Five Marian University students participated in the National Model United Nations- Latin America that was held January 11-20 in the Galapagos Islands, Ecuador. The students, led by faculty advisor Elizabeth Manser-Payne, represented Belgium and received an Honorable Mention for their work.

The group worked with other students from around the globe to "solve" the world's problems of the environment and sustainable resources. When not in conference, the students engaged in a community service learning project as well as other cultural visits.

Competing for Marian University were Krista Kunkle of Rothschild; Emily Reis of Lomira; Katie Sroka of Waupaca; Katlin Vande Hei of Greenville; and Ashley Zumbrock of Chippewa Falls.

Fun Fact

Dorcas Chapel was built in 1966 and named for the seamstress Dorcas who shared her talents with Saint Paul. The chapel was designed to look like a sewing basket with the cross on top portraying a needle (Source: Marian University Archives).
