Marian University sponsors ice age exhibit at Windhover Center

October 18, 2012

FOND DU LAC, Wis. - Marian University's history department and the Windhover Center for the Arts are presenting an exhibit titled "Fond du Lac's Ice Age Mammoth Hunters: The History Before History," which will be on display at the Windhover Center through November 30.

The exhibit offers a unique view of the glacial landscape that Wisconsin's first people encountered at the end of the Pleistocene Epoch (ice age) and their adaptation techniques. It includes a variety of Paleo-Indian artifacts from Fond du Lac's ice age past, drawing from the collection of Herman Bender. The exhibit also contains maps, extinct ice age mammal skeletal remains and 12,000 year old logs from a Wisconsin ice age forest.

This exhibit is free and open to the public.
