Special Agent Galligan to address Marian University’s spring commencement

FOND DU LAC, Wis. – Marian University will hold its 71st spring commencement exercises on Friday, May 13 and Saturday, May 14. Mary E. Galligan, special agent in charge of the New York Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, will be giving the address at the commencement ceremony on Saturday.

Galligan currently serves as the Special Agent in Charge (SAC) of Cyber/Special Operations in the FBI’s New York division, the first female appointed to this position. Galligan entered duty as a special agent with the FBI in 1988. After completing her training at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia, Galligan was assigned to the New York Division where she handled terrorism investigations and intelligence gathering.

After the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, Galligan supervised PENTTBOM, the FBI’s investigation of the attacks, where she reported to FBI Headquarters and oversaw the entire investigation and a team of 75 people.

Galligan is a native of Mineola, New York. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Fordham University and a master’s degree in psychology from the New School for Social Research. Galligan also attended the Law Enforcement Executive Development course at Princeton University and the Graduate School of Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell University. She is a certified as an FBI crisis coordinator, general police instructor and National Center for the Analysis of Violent Crime coordinator.

The commencement weekend will begin on Friday, May 13, with the School of Education Commissioning Ceremony at 6:30 p.m. in Dorcas Chapel.

Activities on Saturday, May 14 begin with the School of Nursing Pinning Ceremony at 9:00 a.m. in the Howard Sadoff Gymnasium. The Graduation Liturgy will begin at 10:30 a.m. in Dorcas Chapel.

The graduation ceremony of graduate and undergraduate students will begin at 12:30 p.m. on the Marian University campus quad, with the Howard Sadoff Gymnasium as the rain site.

Tickets are required for the graduation ceremony, but not for the other events.
