FOND DU LAC, Wis. — Two teams of students from the Marian University School of Business received awards in the Wisconsin College/Technical College/Adult Division of the Stock Market Simulation sponsored by EconomicsWisconsin.
The student teams each managed a hypothetical $100,000 in online investment portfolios for 10 weeks during the fall semester.Awards were given to students managing the portfolios with the highest values at the end of the 10 weeks.
Second place in the Wisconsin College/Technical College/Adult Division was awarded to the Marian team of Andreas Anklam, a senior finance major of Omro, and Keely Andrews, a senior finance major of Appleton. Marian’s third place team consisted of Jenney Essmann, a senior business administration major of Fond du Lac, and Colleen Price, a senior finance and accounting major of Fond du Lac. The second place team received $50 and the third place team received $25.
Students participated in this Stock Market Simulation as part of a project for an investment class taught by Professor Katherine Schuessler.In building a portfolio, students researched and evaluated stocks and mutual funds, and worked to create the best-performing portfolio using a live trading simulation.
