Marian University recognized for 15 years of service in Milwaukee

FOND DU LAC, Wis. — Marian University received special recognition for 15 years of service at The Gathering of Southeast WI, Inc’s annual volunteer recognition event on May 6 in Milwaukee. The Gathering provides ten free meals each week at three sites to over 100,000 of Milwaukee's hungry and homeless annually.

Dr. Michael Ketterhagen’s Peacemaking: Multicultural, Interfaith Dimensions theology course meets each summer and spends time during the course serving at The Gathering’s three sites.

Amber Smith, a senior social work major, and Sister Donna Innes, CSA, a member of the Service Learning Committee, represented Marian University. Amber was part of last summer’s class that served at the Gathering. Recognition was given to 27 individuals and groups who reached significant milestones in years of service.


Fun Fact

The only collegiate indoor practice facility of its kind in Wisconsin, Lenz Field House includes full indoor sports turf flooring, three batting cages, and ample space for a 90’ baseball infield or 60’ softball infield (Source: Marian University Archives).
