Marian Board elects new chair; New trustee appointed

FOND DU LAC, Wis. — The Marian University Board of Trustees elected John K. Nelson, former CEO of ABN Amro Bank N.V., North America, as Chair of the Board at its annual meeting on October 19, 2011. Nelson replaces John Korb who completed a two-year term as Chair.

During his tenure at ABN Amro, Nelson led both global and regional lines of business, operating from offices in New York, London, Amsterdam, and Chicago. He served on the executive committees of the Global Markets and LaSalle Bank Corporation business units, and was a member of the bank’s Top Executive Group.

Nelson, who lives in Lake Bluff, Ill., currently serves on the boards of ALDA Capital Corporation, Core12 LLC., DS Funding LLC. and St. Edmund’s Preparatory School in New York City, as well as serving Fordham University as a director for the Curran Center for Catholic American Studies and on the President’s Council. He is a graduate of Fordham University and holds a bachelor’s in economics and a master’s degree in finance.

Anthony J. “Tony” Ahern, executive vice president of J. F. Ahern Co.’s Pipe Fabrication Division, has been appointed as a member of the Marian Board of Trustees.

Ahern, a Fond du Lac native, directs and manages J. F. Ahern Co.’s Pipe Fabrication Division. His board service includes the Mechanical Contractors Association of America, Pipe Fabrication Institute, St. Agnes Hospital Foundation, Fond du Lac Area United Way and St. Mary's Springs High School.

He has a bachelor’s degree in history with a concentration in business administration from St. Norbert College and also studied at MSOE, Duke University and the Advanced Leadership Institute at Babson College.
