Brian Lydeen is Sabre of the Month

FOND DU LAC, Wis.- Marian College has named Brian Lydeen, Director of Bands and Assistant Professor of Music, its February Sabre of the Month.

Lydeen has worked at Marian for almost five years. Lydeen is responsible for directing the Collegiate Wind Ensemble, the Sabre Show Band, and other small instrument ensembles. He also teaches instrumental methods courses and conducting and teaching methods courses. Lydeen is also a professional musician in the greater Fox Valley area, Milwaukee and Madison.

Prior to coming to Marian Lydeen was a high school band director in the St. Paul/Minneapolis area of Minnesota. Lydeen holds a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from the University of Mary in Bismarck, N.D., and a Master of Music in Performance from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colo. Lydeen is currently working on a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

"I was really surprised to be honored as Sabre of the Month,"says Lydeen. "It is a good feeling to be honored by my peers."
