Augustana's contemplative, melodic sound is characterized by numerous piano lines and the breathy vocals of front man Layus. They have been featured on numerous tours with artists such as Switchfoot, The Fray, Counting Crows, Snow Patrol,The Damnwells, Goo Goo Dolls, Acceptance, and Cartel. They are also renowned for their headlining shows which have seen them play for sold out club audiences nationwide.
Augustana's first major-label album, "All the Stars and Boulevards," was produced by Epic Records and catapulted them into the spotlight. The band, formed in California in 2004, is perhaps best known for their single, "Boston," the music video for which features the lead singer on a beach full of pianos.
At the beginning of 2007 the band embarked on their second headlining theatre tour, supported by Vega 4. Recently their debut major label album has shot to the top of the Billboard Heatseekers Chart due to the resurging success of the single Boston, which was also used on the fifth-season Scrubs episode "His Story III."
As of February, "All the Stars and Boulevards" has sold 160,000 copies in the U.S. The band is planning to release a new album before 2008 and they had been working on the material and sampling it at live shows.
With their buoyant brand of energetic, anthemia pop, Big City Rock (bottom photo) has made a name for itself as one of the West Coast's most dynamic new bands. Now the Los Angeles-based quintet's self-titled debut album is set to let the rest of the world in on what their faithful fan following has known from the start.
Front-loaded with killer hooks, mouth-watering melodies, and a uniquely affirmative worldview, songs like "Human" and "All of The Above" instantly establish Big City Rock as a band with the sound and vision to match their moniker.
