FOND DU LAC, Wis.-Marian College will hold its 23rd annual Sabre Show with five performances on Feb. 16-17 and Feb. 23-25.
Sabre Show 2007 takes a musical journey spanning 70 years of movie music, with selections from Disney movie hits, including "The Little Mermaid," "The Jungle Book," "Toy Story," and "The Lion King." Movie musicals include "Grease," "Chicago the Musical," "The Blues Brothers," and "Footloose."
The five Sabre Show performances will be held in Marian's Hornung Student Center. Friday performances will be held Feb. 16 and 23, with cash bar at 6:30 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m. New this year is a choice of phyllo wrapped cod and shrimp sauce, or almond crusted breast of chicken and raspberry coulis, with wild rice pilaf, fresh garden vegetables and a trio of profiteroles.
Saturday performances will be held Feb. 17 and 24, with cash bar and hors d'oeuvres at 6:30 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m. Dinner on Saturday includes roasted tenderloin of beef with a bacon bordelaise sauce, pecan crusted walleye with a lemon butter sauce, garlic whipped potatoes, roasted root vegetables and cognac ganache torte.
The Sunday brunch performance will be offered Feb. 25, with cash bar at 11:30 a.m. and brunch at noon. Brunch will include buffet style carved ham, chicken chardonnay, quiche, scrambled eggs, potatoes O'Brien, green beans, fresh fruit tray and champagne.
Brian J. Lydeen, director of bands at Marian College, leads the Sabre Show Band and Dr. Mark W. Plummer, Marian's director of vocal music, leads the Sabre Show Singers.
The Sabre Show is an annual production the Marian College Music Department began in 1985 to benefit music scholarships for Marian College students. Each year contributions for production, costumes, lighting and technical support are appreciated.
Tickets for general seating are $25 for all Friday Fish Fry and Sunday brunch performances, and $30 for Saturday performances. Preferred seating is available for all Saturday performances for $40 and at the Sunday brunch performance for $30.
