The marketing profession is as dynamic as it gets, and is absolutely critical to the success of any company, corporation, or organization. Marian's BBA in Marketing program will position you to develop and strengthen your understanding of key marketing principles-from market research and analysis, to forecasting, to merchandising and pricing-while also sharpening your skills to be an adaptable, creative problem solver in a rapidly changing field.
Designed to meet the academic and professional needs of Wisconsin working adults looking to advance their careers, the Marketing program will deliver a solid theoretical base in the interactions between buyer and seller, while also providing the broad and deep knowledge that it takes to succeed as a marketing professional.
The Core
The BBA core curriculum will position you to explore a variety of essential areas related to business, from statistics, accounting, and microeconomics to business law, strategy and policy, business ethics, and many more. Additionally, the business core will enable you to develop and sharpen crucial skills in communication, critical thinking, leadership, and writing, among others.
The Curriculum
From things like consumer behavior, advertising principles, and public relations, to intercultural communication, design, writing for media, and professional presentations, the Marketing program curriculum delivers the knowledge and skills that Wisconsin companies, agencies, and firms are looking for in their marketing professionals. You'll engage in case studies, small-group discussions, and work-related research projects, developing knowledge that can be applied at your current job the very next day. The curriculum has been crafted with significant input from executives at some of the state's most respected companies and organizations.
The Convenience
As your neighbor, Marian is local, connected, and respected-employers know us and trust our graduates. We offer you convenient learning centers in Appleton, Fond du Lac, and West Allis Milwaukee, as well as convenient evening courses from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Some courses are available online; you can start your program in the fall, spring, or summer; and you'll be able to proceed through the program at your own pace by taking one or more courses per 7-week term.
The degree program consists of a 37 credit common business core of courses that all students are required to complete. Students may then choose one of four undergraduate majors, including general management, human resource management, operations management, and marketing. Students may also double major in health care administration. Each major is comprised of 15 - 18 credit hours in the discipline. If students wish to complete two majors, additional credits will be required.
Business majors and minors may not earn a grade lower than C- in any business course. In instances where the student earns a grade of D+ or lower, the course must be repeated in order to graduate.
